Yazd Tower of Silence tour

In the past, Zoroastrian held their funerals in this area. Based on their religious beliefs, the soil should maintain pure, so they didn’t bury the dead bodies underground. Instead, Zoroastrians put corpses inside the towers and after some days, vultures and birds ate the corpses, so only the bones remained inside a well in the same tower. This custom was being held for a long time, but it was banned in Pahlavi time. Nowadays, this area is one of the most outstanding monuments in Iran.

As Yazd is located in an arid area, let’s not miss the experience of being in a desert. So after exploring silent towers, we start moving toward a desert near Yazd. Sadegh Abad Desert is located 140 km from Yazd near the small village of Sadegh Abad. As you see this desert, you’ll be amazed by the wonderful star-shaped sandhills and lots of other beauties.
