Iran Nomad Tour – Qashqai Tribe in Shiraz

Meeting Bahman in Shiraz really changed the course of events, since I had the intention to do a nomad tour but had not really researched much. Then, boom! I contacted Bahman, who was actually close by, had lunch together, introduced me to some friends, and had a great afternoon and evening together. And yes, he arranged the tour for the next day in the spur of the moment! Honestly, I was really glad to meet his family and witness their everyday chores, interact with other people, the landscape, the cattle... And enjoy their undisputed hospitality. The food was excellent, needless to say. Such welcoming people! I wish I had planned ahead to take part in other social activities that were happening in the nomad community around that time or do a hiking tour. So... don't be like me and plan ahead! Bahman is definitely your number 1 person for Shiraz, Zagros, and anything Qashqai related (and I kid you not). He's definitely one of a kind!

We began our tour with Bahman in Shiraz and then went to the Zagros Mountains. The itinerary was carefully thought through and well-balanced. In Shiraz, we saw not only the usual tourist sites but several that were certainly off beaten track. When Bahman understood our personal interests, he adjusted the whole plan so we could have the best experience there. About the night at the Zagros Mountains… that was an experience that is still on my mind. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to put it into words. But I won’t reveal anything, so you can have a ‘blind’ experience as we did. On our last day in Shiraz, Bahman had an amazing surprise for us - we went to a wedding ️ and not a very common one! We witnessed a nomadic wedding in a nomadic wonderland! I will always be grateful for our time together, my dear friend Bahman.

Meeting with Bahman and his family made a huge impression on me! Amazing experience to look at the life of nomads from the inside, and interact with them. The food cooked on the fire was the most delicious I tried in Iran. People are very friendly and hospitable. On the second day, Bahman organized stunning hiking in the mountains with wonderful views! Bahman took care of me so well, was interested in my mood and impressions, and I felt very comfortable. He was also the most excellent photographer!)) Hope someday I will return!
