On this tour, you will get the chance to enjoy one of the most beautiful deserts of Central Iran. To get there, we will have to drive in dirt roads for just a bit less than an hour. Once located on a major trade route, a relatively important caravanserai for its time was built close to the sandhills. Most of the caravanserais in Iran were built during the Safavid dynasty (1501 – 1736) and Maranjab Caravanserai is one of them.
Maranjab Caravanserai is still being used for its original purpose. Spending the night at a mysterious caravanserai in the middle of nowhere is probably going to be the most chilled night of your stay in Iran. With a clear sky you will also be able to enjoy the starry night.
We will start our tour from Kashan in the afternoon. After driving for about an hour and mostly in the dirt roads, we will finally reach the caravanserai and the sand dunes close to it. On our way, we will also take a look at the quite large salt lake nearby, known as the Namak lake.
We will spend the following night in the caravanserai, it is hard to find any light pollutions in the middle of desert, which means we will can do some extended stargazing all night long. The next morning is a good opportunity for us to go deep in the sand hills of Maranjab desert and get lost in its beauty. There will be plenty of time for us to enjoy everything the desert has to offer, so take your time and explore it.
