Tabas is one of the most beautiful sites in Iran’s desert sites. Many historical and natural places lie within the beauties of this county and the villages around it.
One of the unique attractions in the area is Azmighan Village in the northern part of South Khorasan. In the local language, Azmighan means to have fun and enjoy yourself. This is exactly how the beauties and wonders of this village welcome you, so the only thing you can do is to have fun and enjoy alongside the natural and historical sites. Among the villages located in the deserts, Azmighan offers something you do not expect, humid weather and green areas which come from the rivers and springs. One of the most spectacular things about this village is that you can grow rice and date together. Only a few kilometers far from each other, in the humid climate rice grows and in the tropical side you can see the tall trees of date. Open your eyes to the wonders and must-see places in this marvel of nature.
One of the most wonderous places you can see is Kal Jeni Canyon. 35 km from the north of Tabas and near Azmighan village, you will get to this stunning phenomenon made by the mother nature, the art of erosion. The name Kal Jeni comes from the locals mysterious stories and it means The Canal of Jinn. Locals believe that this canyon is under protection of Jinns (spirits). This name really suits the place because of the cryptic atmosphere it has. The moment you get there the canyon welcomes you with the beautiful spring it has that gets its water from Tashkuni village. The holes and tunnels alongside with its amazing shaped stones make a fascinating artistic natural site. This natural wonder dates back to Sasanian Empire. At that time the followers of Sufism, known as Sufis, came to this canyon and made the tunnels, which somehow look like rooms. They made them in order to pray and meditate and because they didn’t want anyone to bother them and interrupt their prayers, they came up with Jinn stories and they talked about Jinns and other scary creatures. However, the locals of the area still believe in these stories and they have their own convincing reasons. This is probably the reason that this amazing place didn’t receive the attention it deserved. If you are looking for an enigmatic place full of mysteries, this is the suitable place for you and we can guarantee that you will enjoy each turn you take in this canyon.
Let us take you to another incomparable site in Tabas. Exactly in the middle of the two famous deserts of Iran, Dasht-e Lut and Dasht-e Kavir, the fascinating Golshan Flower Garden is located. Golshan Garden has the traditional Iranian architecture, a great garden with flowers, bushes and trees on each side with a big pool and fountains in it. What differentiates this garden from other gardens in Iran is a permanent running water flowing in it that besides the fruit trees, makes a unique athmosphere and a cool weather. This eight-acre monument has various species of plants that each of them grow in different weather climates but miraculously, they are all beautifully in charge of making this garden a rare place to visit.
These are only examples of wonders of Tabas. Everywhere you go in this county you will feel amazed. Tabas is full of stories and un-ending surprises. Make sure not to miss all the beauties of Tabas.
